Let This be the reason for black history month

How are you related (black history)

            We all are related in some way to the significance of black history month, and what blacks or people of color have given to the foundation of this country in many ways with how they lived their lives.      I am telling you this because I want to encourage you to look into your past and your families’ history and see what they have done to make this country great and the integrity that they held and how they established the integrity of their race and dignified it by being not just only Americans but Americans of distinction.
            I am related to not just one but related to many Americans of that type and proud of it.         Such of these is Cicely Tyson one of America’s great black Actresses, she stands among some great blacks; Cicely (born in New York, N.Y. ,US) one of my mother’s first  cousin; was founded by editor of Ebony magazine from there modeling as an actress is noted for her vivid portrayals of strong African American women.       My cousin Cicely came from the finest stock; the daughter of immigrants from the wonderful Island of Nevis sister Island to St Kitts in the British Caribbean Islands.            She has been honored by congress of Racial Equality, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People and the National Council of Negro Women.  And in 1977 she was inducted into the black Filmmakers Hall of Fame. This is some and there are more family members that I can find who have done things that if you ask them did you want to be a hero they would simply say no that was the right thing to do.         My mother Theolinda Claxton-Woods stands underneath that umbrella of people, who’s richness and deep Christian values to do the right thing is also portrayed in her life long pursuit to feed and uplift her community; and she has taught me that if you see something that needs to be done do it. My uncle Milburn Claxton has always reminded me that if anything is worth doing, then you should do it right:  I have walked a crooked line in my own life but stand behind those who have gone on before me.               I do know that there are many stories that you have of your own which fit the billet and your family have done to contribute to black history month.
            You or someone you know is related to some of these people The First Black President of the United States, President Barak Obama, Colin Powell General US Army, Nat king Cole music, Thurgood Marshal Judicial Supreme Court, Booker T. Washington scholar and educator, First female Billionaire, actress, entrepreneur Oprah Winfrey, First male Billionaire Robert Johnson, Harry Belafonte Music and Acting the Arts, Bill Cosby actor, comedian, Theater, Film the Arts, Sidney Pointier, Actor, Director, Theater, Film, Jackie Robinson Sports, Martin Luther King Preacher, Social Leader, Activist World changer, Tiger Woods sports community leader and we all make failures on the way to heaven.       I am afraid that developing the minds of our youth to harness the worth of the good that blacks and people of color have done should be our honest focus; and have them understand that even if families are not perfect and the world has some different views that they can succeed even coming from an underprivileged  home.    They need to know that there are those who are willing to give a hand when needed.      All of the above have not only been successful but have given back to their community in some form; and that is the reason I think behind Black History Month, even thought it is the smallest month as people of color we can all do the best with it.

            These are some of the few there are so much more outstanding people of color who have done good with the life God gave them which had reached out beyond themselves and touched the lives of so many others to far to mention.             And that is why we should sing them into our hearts and give glory to God that He had given them to us and they did not stand still.   I hope that this poem does them just.  It is called (Ripen Tomatoes)

The ripen Tomatoes

To all laborers in God’s kingdom,
We thank you for your heart of gold;

You work so hard behind the seen,
To get us all nice and clean.

Your life is hard this much is true!
But I am so glad you know, that God has called you.

Your earthly rewards is a smile or two,
From all work that God choose for you to do.

You never complain!
Maybe now and then;
But for those who know you
You are heaven sent

And for all the tasks that you take
It is our turn
 To say we appreciate

Although there are times
This task we have failed to do
Deep in our hearts we also know
You! Are forgiving too

Keep on doing the thing you always do
There are so many lost souls depending on you

Just to say something of great encouragement
The bible talks of your relentless persistence

You are like ripen tomatoes
That God had picked
The job you do
 Please never quit

And when you are dried
And all decayed
God still uses you
He replants the seeds
